The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Displeasure About Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
